Two county rivals in Class 1A-6 Man football will square off for the state championship, as Little Snake River plays Encampment on Friday in Laramie.

This game is a rematch from Week 2 of the regular season. At home, the Rattlers beat the Tigers, 66-24.

WyoPreps visited with both head coaches before the game, Snake River’s Jack Cobb, and Encampment’s Kegan Willford.

Team Info & Series History:

Encampment (8-1) – Kegan Willford: 3rd year as head coach; 0 state championships in school history; this is only the eighth overall year of the program and third season since they brought football back in 2019. This is the Tigers’ first-ever trip to a championships game.

Little Snake River (9-0) – Jack Cobb: 5th year as head coach; 3 state championships in school history; the last was in 2019 (71-38 over H.E.M.)

Encampment leads the all-time series, 2-1. They first played each other in a varsity game in 1956. The Tigers won the first two games before the Rattlers won earlier this year. This will be the first postseason meeting between the two schools.
