Jackson Hole Mountain Resort will host the 2023 Wyoming High School Alpine Skiing State Championships this weekend.

After some practice on Thursday at Teton Village, the official races will be on Friday and Saturday.

Here’s a breakdown of the schools involved, the defending champions, and the schedule.

GIRLS:

Teams Participating = Cody, Jackson, Kelly Walsh, Laramie, Natrona County, Pinedale

Defending Champ = Jackson (going for the 14th consecutive title and 43rd in school history)

Defending Event Champs = Taylor Smith (Jackson) in the slalom; new champion in the GS

Top Contenders = Taylor Smith (Jackson), Annie Moll (Jackson), Madison Kramer (Jackson), Adaya Whitelock (Cody), Evie Crawford (Natrona County), Lily Steinberg (Jackson), Ceci Bruno (Jackson), Lu Reed (Kelly Walsh), Aleka Blair (Natrona County).

2015 was the last time a skier not from Jackson won an alpine skiing state championship race.

2016 was the last time a skier not from Jackson won a downhill state championship race.

Saturday: Slalom, 10 a.m. (on Moran run)
