The prelims of the 2023 Class 4A Wyoming High School Boys Swimming and Diving State Championships in Gillette are in the books.

Laramie entered the meet as the favorite, and the Plainsmen are still in that role, but a good day for Cheyenne Central put the Indians in the mix.

Laramie had the top time in four events. Garrett Rees was the fastest qualifier in both sprint freestyle events. Ronan Robinson had the top score through the semifinals of diving. Finally, Laramie had the fastest time in the 400-freestyle relay.

Kelly Walsh has the fastest time in both the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.

The final top time was turned in by Sheridan’s Jarret Thompson in the 500-freestyle.
