Watch Gillette Riders’ Players And Coach React To 2025 State Championship

The Gillette Roughriders are the 2025 Wyoming American Legion Baseball AA State Champs. They won the title last Friday while facing elimination for a third straight day. Gillette came through with two, one-run victories over Casper and Sheridan. The Riders won both, 2-1 in eight innings and 4-3. It gave them their first state title in 11 years.

The AA State Tournament MVP was Cason Loftus. He had the game-winning RBI hit against Cheyenne in an elimination game on Thursday. Cason added four more hits in the two games on championship day last Friday. He also got the win versus Casper and the save against Sheridan on the mound.

Riley Schilling was a key super-senior for the Riders. He threw a complete game in the 1-0 win last Thursday against Cheyenne. Riley allowed only three hits with four strikeouts and three walks. He added one hit and one walk at the plate. On championship day, he caught both games behind the plate and added one hit, one walk, and one run scored.

Grayson Sargent was the winning pitcher in the state title game versus Sheridan. He threw 6.2 innings and allowed three runs on two hits. Sargent walked five and struck out four.

Gillette Post 42 will represent Wyoming at the Northwest Regional Tournament or Region 7 Tournament in Billings, MT, on Aug. 6-10, 2025. All their games will be at Dehler Park.
