The ‘Boys of Summer’ are back. The 2025 Wyoming American Legion Baseball season is supposed to start this weekend with seven teams in Wyoming playing their first games. Lovell, Powell, Sheridan (2), Buffalo, and Gillette (2) are scheduled to play either Friday, Saturday or Sunday, or both.

There are not a lot of changes in Wyoming Legion Baseball this year. Eight teams are still at the ‘AA’ level. Those teams are the Casper Oilers, Cheyenne Sixers, Cheyenne Hawks, Gillette Roughriders, Jackson Giants, Laramie Rangers, Rock Springs Stallions, and Sheridan Troopers. Each team will play seven conference doubleheaders or 14 conference games during the 2025 season.

The 2025 Wyoming American Legion Baseball AA State Tournament is in Cheyenne at Powers Field from July 28 through August 1.

This year features 15 teams at the ‘A’ level of American Legion Baseball in the state. There are nine in the East Conference. It is the Buffalo Bulls, Casper Drillers, Cheyenne Eagles, Douglas Cats, Gillette Rustlers, Laramie Rangers A, Sheridan Jets, Torrington Tigers, and Wheatland Lobos. Each team will play the other eight teams in one conference doubleheader or 16 conference games. The West Conference will have six teams in 2025. The Cody Cubs, Evanston Outlaws, Green River Knights, Lovell Mustangs, Powell Pioneers, and Riverton Raiders. Each team will play five conference doubleheaders or ten conference games.

For the Single-A postseason, in the East Conference, the eighth and ninth seeds will play a one-game elimination game. The winner will face the top seed, while two will play seven, three versus six, and four takes on the fifth seed in a three-game series at the higher-seeded team. The two teams who finish first and second in the West Conference will receive an automatic bid to the state tournament. The other teams will be determined by a three-game series, with the third seed against the sixth and four playing five.

The Wyoming American Legion Baseball ‘A’ State Tournament will be in Sheridan from July 23 through July 28.

The Class B and C State Tournaments will be on July 16-20. Class B is in Gillette, and Class C will be in Evanston.

The one rule change for 2025 deals with home teams at the state tournament. It will only impact the A, B, and C levels. Approved by the coaches, the higher-seeded team will always be the home team unless two teams are like seeds (i.e. West No. 2 vs. East No. 2), then a coin flip will determine the home team.

Good luck to all the teams in the state, and let’s play ball!
