Laramie Rangers pitcher and infielder Sam Hoyt has signed to play baseball at Adams State College in Colorado. Hoyt has been with the Rangers’ varsity team for the last three seasons. He was a second-team all-state selection in the 2024 Wyoming American Legion Baseball season at the Double-A level.

Hoyt went 3-8 with a 4.35 ERA last summer. He threw 66 innings, which was the second-most on the team. Hoyt appeared in 18 games and started 16 during the 2024 season. He allowed 57 runs, only 41 earned runs, and 66 hits. Hoyt walked 33 batters and struck out 75. Opponents had a .254 batting average against him. He helped Laramie to a 33-32 overall record. The Rangers were one of the last four teams left at the AA State Tournament for the second straight year.

At the plate last summer, Hoyt had a .279 batting average with 36 hits and 19 RBIs in 50 games played. He had nine doubles and four triples.

In 2023, Hoyt was 5-4 with a 5.01 ERA. He threw 50.1 innings and allowed 61 hits with 24 walks and 58 strikeouts. Hoyt hit .274 that season with 37 total hits and 22 RBIs. The Rangers went 28-32 that season.

Adams State College is in Alamosa, CO. The Grizzlies compete at the NCAA Division II level and are members of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).
