Gillette’s Lauren Kuhbacher and Kaylie Neary Sign for Basketball
Campbell County High School’s Lauren Kuhbacher and Kaylie Neary will continue being teammates at the next level. Last week, the duo chose to play basketball together in the Yellowjackets program at Montana State-Billings and signed their National Letter of Intent. The two have been playing basketball with each other since the second grade. Their senior season of prep basketball starts in a few weeks.
Neary was an all-state and all-conference selection in the 2023-24 season. She averaged 11.8 points per game and shot 41 percent from the field. Neary was second in Class 4A last season at 3.6 assists per game. She added 2.4 steals per game and shot 33 percent beyond the arc and 82 percent at the free-throw line.
Lauren Kuhbacher was an all-conference choice last season. She averaged seven points and a team-high 6.6 rebounds per game for the Camels. She shot 34 percent from the floor and added a team-best 2.7 steals per game.
The teammates helped Campbell County to a runner-up finish in Class 4A during the 2023-24 season. The Camels finished 20-7 overall. They won the 4A East Regional and 4A Northeast Quadrant with a 6-0 conference record.
Both Neary and Kuhbacher are four-year letter-winners on the basketball court. They also played volleyball for three years and tennis for one year at CCHS.
MSUB is in Billings, Montana. The Yellowjackets compete at the NCAA Division II level and are members of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC).
