Upton's Rhett Watt Commits To Rocky Mountain College Basketball

Upton senior Rhett Watt is furthering his basketball career after committing to Rocky Mountain College earlier this month. Watt won two Class 1A boys’ basketball state championships in his prep career. He was a two-time all-state and all-conference performer for the Bobcats. Watt has also been selected to play in the Wyoming Coaches Association North-South All-Star game in July for the North team. He was a part of four conference and three regional championship squads. Watt played in the state championship game all four years.

Watt averaged 17.3 points and shot 53 percent from the floor in the 2024-25 season. He added 6.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game in the 2024-25 season. Upton went 25-2 overall and finished as the 1A runner-up.

As a junior, Rhett averaged 11 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. Upton won the 1A state championship and finished 27-1 in the 2023-24 season.

In the 2022-23 season, Watt averaged 9.3 points for the 1A runner-up Bobcats. He added 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game for a squad that ended with an overall record of 21-5. Watt appeared in 26 of the 27 games as a freshman in the 2021-22 season. He averaged 2.5 points per game on an Upton team that sported a record of 26-1 and won the 1A title.

He concluded his career with 1,071 points, which is ninth in school history. Watt was part of a 42-game winning streak at UHS. The Bobcats finished the 2024 season on a 19-game streak and won their first 23 games in the 2025 season. Rhett finished fourth in field goals made at 192 and seventh for points with 467 in a single season. He was eighth in school history in career assists with 235, seventh in career 3-point field goals made with 108, and seventh in field goals made with 423. Upton was 99-9 in his four years.
