Lyman junior Brynlee Busskohl was one of the standouts throughout the 2019 girls’ swimming and diving season in Wyoming.

At the recent Class 3A state championships, it wasn’t any different. Busskohl won an individual event, finished runner-up in another, was part of a winning relay, and a runner-up relay. For her efforts, the junior was part of a 3-way tie for ‘Athlete of the Meet’ honors at the state championships.

WyoPreps had a chance to visit with Busskohl after the state meet concluded and asked her about her performance, her record, her season, and being part of a team that brought home the third-place trophy in the video above.

Busskohl was the only swimmer at the 3A state championships to set a state record. She accomplished that with a time of 1:05.47 in the prelims of the 100 breaststroke race. Busskohl won that race and was only .12 seconds off that mark in the finals. She added a runner-up finish in the 50 freestyle by .08 seconds. Busskohl swam a leg on the state champion 200 medley relay and the second-place 200 freestyle relay.

She’ll be a force during her senior season in 2020.
