Central’s Richard Prescott Commits to Northern State
Cheyenne Central's Richard Prescott is a terrific all-around athlete and will be taking those attributes to Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota. He will play football as well as compete in track for field for the Wolves.
In football, Prescott was a 4A all-state selection as a defensive back and finished the year with 48.5 tackles, 19 of them solo. He also blocked a couple of punts and one kick. He was also named all-state as an at-large offensive player. Prescott rushed for 255 yards and 3 touchdowns and caught 32 balls for 355 yards and 2 TDs. He was a major force on special teams with a pair of kickoff returns for touchdowns and rang up over 1000 yards of all-purpose yardage for the Indians in 2022.
In track, Prescott is the defending 4A state champion in the triple jump, going 45 feet 3 inches at the State Meet back in May. He also placed 5th in the long jump, 3rd in the 300 meters, and the 110 hurdles so he piled up a bunch of points for his team that finished 2nd at State.
Northern State is a Division II school that competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
