Clayton Edwards Leads Burlington to 1A State Track Title
One of the more impressive performances at this year's State Track and Field Meet was turned in by the Burlington boys' team in 1A. They rang up 155.5 points to win their 2nd state title in the last 3 years and outdistanced 2nd place Cokeville by 74.5 points.
Senior Clayton Edwards accounted for 36 of those points with a solid all-around meet. He won the 200-meter dash in 23.04 and also took home a state championship in the 400 in 50.55. Edwards was 2nd in the 100-meter dash and also placed 2nd in the high jump, clearing 6-2.
His accomplishments weren't exactly a surprise as he won the 1A high jump state title in 2022 and placed 2nd in the 200 and 4th in the 100. Edwards came through big time to cap his prep track career and we caught up with him for some thoughts on the State Meet.
