One of the up-and-coming sprinters in Wyoming prep track and field is Cody Hape from Burns who is looking to make the next big step forward. The senior is off to a flying start this season with a 1st place finish in the 400-meter run at the Okie Blanchard Meet in Cheyenne with a time of 49.9. Hape also finished 2nd in the 200 and his 1600 medley relay team took 2nd.

At the Wheatland meet, Hape took 1st in the 400 with a clocking of 50.79 and took 2nd in the 100-meter dash. The 400 seems to be his event as he placed 3rd at the 3A State Track Meet plus his 4x400 relay team took 3rd.

Hape is a solid all-around athlete who was an all-state selection for the Broncs in football and an all-conference pick in basketball. He'll be a big contributor at the next level, wherever that may be. We caught up with Hape in Cheyenne after his effort in the 400 and it was nice to run on a nice day weather-wise.
