The Cokeville Panthers are the defending Class 1A girls’ basketball state champions and maybe in line for a repeat.

As you see in the picture, the Panthers ended last season with a celebration in Casper at the state tournament. Off to an 11-1 start and ranked first all season in the WyoPreps.com Coaches and Media Poll, Cokeville continues to roll along. Their lone loss is to a team from Idaho, so they are still undefeated against Wyoming competition.

Even more bad news for opponents is that the Panthers just got Kamille Nate, a senior who has been injured, back in the lineup. She’s on a time-restriction according to Cokeville head coach Briant Teichert, now in his 38th season. They lost three seniors from last year's title team and only have three seniors, including Nate, on this season's roster. It's more of a junior-laden team.

WyoPreps’ David Settle caught up with Coach Teichert and juniors Rylee Teichert and Emmie Barnes after a recent game. Teichert and Barnes have been the two leading scorers while Nate was out, although Rylee Teichert is now injured and in a different role. The players' video is above, while here is Coach Teichert:

Cokeville has non-conference games against 3A No. 2 Mountain View and 2A Kemmerer this weekend, along with a conference tilt at Farson-Eden. Then, it’s just league action the rest of the way until the post-season rolls around on February 27.
