Some of Wyoming’s best Cross Country runners raced against the best of the Northwest US.

Eagle, ID (near Boise) was the host of the 2018 Nike Cross Country Northwest Regional Meet, held on November 10th.

The top 2 placing clubs (based on score) of each gender, automatically qualify for nationals (December 1st at Portland, OR), as well as the top 5 individuals not on automatic placing clubs (based on time) also qualify.

Rawlins sophomore and 2-time Wyoming 3A State Champ Sydney Thorvaldson, placed first in the women's race, with a time of 17 minutes 24.10 seconds.

She won by 13.9 seconds vs. the next closest runner.

4A Girls Cross Country State Champ Claudia Miller (Cheyenne Central) placed 12th with a time of 18:09.40.

2017 4A Girls Cross Country State Champ MacKenzie Marler (Cheyenne East) placed 85th with a time of 19:33.00.

3A Boys Cross Country State Champ Peter Visser (Star Valley) placed 44th with a time of 16:09.30, while his team-mate Asefa Wetzel (2017 3A State Champ) placed 40th, with a time of 16:07.40.

4A Boys Cross Country State Champ Weston Wiley (Evanston) placed 67th with a time of 16:26.00.

There were also a number of runners from Star Valley, Rock Springs, Evanston, Jackson, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne Central and Natrona that competed in either the championship or open races.
