Wyoming High School Cross Country Scoreboard: Aug. 29-31, 2024
The 2024 high school cross-country season in Wyoming makes its debut this weekend. The first race will occur with a unique event in Afton on Thursday. A lot of teams are heading to Cheyenne on Friday morning. Rock Springs hosts a small event on Friday. Newcastle has the last in-state cross-country meet on Saturday with a few Wyoming and South Dakota schools competing. A few schools are going to cross-country races out of state.

Thursday, Aug. 29:
More Cowbell Invitational at the Valli Vu Golf Course in Afton, WY – Lyman, Mountain View, Star Valley; Out-of-state – Hillcrest (ID), Skyline (ID), Soda Springs (ID), Thunder Ridge (ID).
Habtamu Wetzel won the boys' race and led the Braves to the team title. Mckynly Stephens of Mountain View took 5th in the girls' race. Star Valley was 2nd in the girls team standings.
Out-of-State Events:
Panhandle Classic at Riverview G.C. in Scottsbluff, NE – Douglas.
The Douglas girls took 5th place and Allison Renstrom was their top finisher. Douglas finished 5th in the boys' division. Bodey Kejr was 3rd individually.
Friday, Aug. 30:
Rock Springs Desert Invite at White Mountain base area – Green River, Rock Springs, Wind River, Wyoming Indian; Out-of-state – Manila (UT).
The Green River girls and Rock Springs boys took 1st in the team standings. Aria Wheeler of Rock Springs won the girls' division by over 1 minute. William Maes of Rock Springs was the top finisher in 2nd.
Wyoming Invitational at Little America G.C. – Big Horn, Buffalo, Burns/Pine Bluffs, Campbell County, Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Cody, Glenrock, Kelly Walsh, Lander, Laramie, Natrona County, Rawlins, Riverton, Rock River, Sheridan, Thermopolis, Thunder Basin, Tongue River, Torrington, Wheatland, Worland. Out-of-state – Berthoud (CO), Boulder (CO), Dakota Ridge (CO), Estes Park (CO), Lotus School of Excellence (CO), Mead (CO), Niwot (CO), Platte Valley (CO), Prospect Ridge (CO), Roosevelt (CO), Windsor (CO).
Maggie Madsen of Cheyenne East won the girls' race. Cheyenne Central was second, Natrona County took third, and Cody was fourth in the revised standings.
Trajn Swalstad of Worland took 1st in the boys' race. Natrona County was 3rd and Kelly Walsh took 4th in the team standings.
Out-of-State Events:
Billings (MT) Invite at Amend Park – Burlington, Lovell, Powell, Rocky Mountain.
Kinley Cooley of Powell won the girls' race at 18:49.06 and helped Powell take 2nd in the team standings. Liam Taylor from Powell was the top Wyoming finisher in the boys' race in 5th. Powell took 6th in the boys' team standings.
Timpanogos XC Invitational AM at Lake Side Park in Orem, UT – Evanston, Jackson.
Jackson's Madison Antonino finished in 10th place. Boomer Weisman took 42nd as the top Wyoming boy.
Saturday, Aug. 31:
Newcastle Invite at Mallo Camp – Newcastle, Sundance, Wright; Out-of-State – Custer (SD).
Newcastle's Aspen Bloom took 2nd in the girls' race. Wright's Toby Teigen placed 2nd in the boys' race. Newcastle came in 2nd in the boys' team standings.
