Wyoming High School Cross Country Scoreboard: Sept. 19-21, 2024
Week 4 of the 2024 high school cross-country season in Wyoming is here. Five cross-country meets are in the state this week. Cowley, Lander, Douglas, Sundance, and Sheridan are the host sites throughout the week. Teams are also heading to Colorado, Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Utah for competitions. The state championships are just five weeks away, which means teams are nearing the mid-point of the 2024 season.

Thursday, Sept. 19:
Lander Invitational Cross Country Meet at Lander Valley HS in Lander, WY – Burlington, Cody, Ft. Washakie, Green River, Kelly Walsh, Lander, Lyman, Mountain View, Rawlins, Riverton, Rock Springs, St. Stephens, Thermopolis, Wind River, Worland, Wyoming Indian.
Lexi Longhurst of Kelly Walsh won the girls' race at 20:32.24. Cody took the girls' team title with 37 points. Trajn Swalstad of Worland won the boys' division at 16:21.90. Kelly Walsh grabbed the team crown for boys.
Out-of-State Events:
Eldon Knudson Invitational CC meet at Custer, SD – Newcastle.
Aspen Bloom of Newcastle finished 5th in the girls' race. Sam Cunningham of Newcastle took 4th place in the boys' race. The Newcastle boys took 4th place in the team standings.
Friday, Sept. 20:
Douglas XC Invitational at the Douglas Golf Course in Douglas, WY – Douglas, Glenrock, Kelly Walsh, Rock River, Tongue River, Torrington, Wheatland.
Torrington's Kaycee Kosmicki won the girls' race at 21:13. Sully Wilson made it a Torrington sweep by crossing the finish line first in the boys' race at 17:45.
Sundance Cross Country Invite at the Sundance Country Club in Sundance, WY – Moorcroft, Sundance, Wright; out-of-state team: Hill City (SD).
Carolina Navarro wins the girls' race. Tobyn Teigen of Wright takes the boys' race.
Out-of-State Events:
Arvada West Durden Invitational in Arvada, CO – Cheyenne Central, Thunder Basin.
Central swept the two races. Sophia Rose topped the girls' field at 19:42.2. Race Morrell won the boys' race at 15:50.6.
Fergus Eagle XC Invitational in Lewistown, MT – Powell.
Kinley Cooley of Powell finished 2nd in the girls' division, and Powell won the team title by 1 point in the girls' standings. Liam Taylor placed 3rd in the boys race. Powell took 2nd in the boys' division.
Loveland Sweetheart Invitational in Loveland, CO – Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Laramie, Saratoga.
Maggie Madsen of Cheyenne East won the girls' race at 19:52. Kieran Giraldo of Laramie took 4th. Gideon Moore of Laramie took 2nd in the boys' race. Laramie took 2nd place in the girls' division. The East boys were 4th.
Newell Invitational in Newell, SD – Hulett.
Saturday, Sept. 21:
Michele Ludwig XC Invitational at the V.A. Hospital Grounds in Sheridan, WY – Big Horn, Buffalo, Campbell County, Natrona County, Sheridan; Out-of-State – Sturgis Brown (SD).
Lyla Marney of Big Horn ran 18:39.57 to win the girls' race. Ethan Rayo of Buffalo won the boys' race at 15:49.80.
Out-of-State Events:
Alliance Invite in Alliance, NE – Burns/Pine Bluffs, Lusk.
Royal Run XC Inv. in Roy, UT – Evanston.
