Douglas broke open a tight 3A football game in the 4th quarter on Friday to get by Buffalo on the road 19-3 on Friday night. The Bearcats are 5-2 overall and 4-0 in the 3A East with a home game this week vs. Torrington. Douglas can secure a #1 seed in the playoffs with a win in that game and depending on other games, the Cats could be a #2 or #3 seed.

Douglas running back Carter Archuleta opened the scoring in the 2nd quarter with a 5-yard touchdown run to put the Cats in front for good at 7-0. Buffalo kicked a 23-yard field goal in the 3rd quarter to cut the gap to 7-3 but that was as close as the Bison would get.

In the 4th quarter, Milo Oria found the end zone on a touchdown run with less than 4 minutes to play to give Douglas a 13-3 lead. The Bearcat defense made a huge play down the stretch as Cody Hessler came up with an interception return for a touchdown to seal the deal for Douglas.

Buffalo is 3-4 overall and 1-3 in conference play with a road game at Lander to wrap up the regular season. The winner of that game will be the #4 seed from the East in the playoffs and the loser will be eliminated.
