The Douglas volleyball team certainly got a workout at the State Tournament over the weekend in Casper. They needed 5 excruciating sets to beat Powell in the semi-finals and 5 more excruciating sets to dispatch Cody in the state championship match. Saturday's match between the two, #1 seeds was compelling to the max and the Bearcats never gave up despite being down 2 sets to one and trailing late in the 4th set.

Douglas had a pair of returning All-State players in senior Lauren Olsen and sophomore Leah Ewing. This group had leadership and confidence which led to success with a state title. This was the first championship for the Bearcats since 2017 and the team made serious progress after taking 4th at the 2023 State Tournament.

We chatted with Olsen and Ewing at the Ford Center in Casper and needless to say, they were both proud of their team's effort.
