The top-ranked Little Snake River Rattlers proved too much for No. 3 Encampment last Saturday, 79-37. LSR pulled away in the second half to remain undefeated on the season and grab the top seed from the South Conference in Class 1A 6-man football. Bridger Cozzens accounted for 10 TDs, and the Rattlers improved to 7-0 on the season and 5-0 in league games. The Tigers suffered their first loss and fell to 6-1 overall. They went 4-1 in conference play.

Trailing 31-27 with 2:46 left in the first half, Little Snake River scored 52 straight points to break the game wide open. The Rattlers scored the last two times they had the ball in the first half and took a 40-31 lead at halftime. After a Cozzens 35-yard TD run to open the second half, the Rattlers recovered three consecutive onside kicks and scored on the ensuing drives. LSR reached the running clock with 2:03 left in the third quarter after Cozzens picked off a tipped pass and returned it 46 yards for a TD.

Cozzens had an amazing day. He finished with 354 yards rushing and 9 TD runs. In addition to the interception return for a touchdown, the senior had 35 defensive points.

LSR jumped out to a 13-0 lead. Encampment rallied and took the lead on a Gunner Henrie to Dashaal Baysinger 10-yard TD pass with 2:20 left in the first quarter. That was the first of five lead changes in the first half. Cozzens' 36-yard TD run with 2:31 left in the second quarter gave the Rattlers the lead for good.

Henrie had three TD runs and two TD passes for Encampment in the loss.
