It is the final week of the regular season in Wyoming High School football. Some parts of the playoff puzzle have been determined, while others remain uncertain. Tiebreakers start with the result of head-to-head games. Then, it goes to the result of games against the highest-ranking non-tied team in the conference standings. You continue through that until the tie is broken. If a tie still exists, it goes to a modified points system, where the most you can get for a victory is +12, and the most for a loss is -12. An example is if Team A defeated Team B, 28-0, Team A would be +12, while Team B would be -12. If the score was 10-7, Team A would be +3 and Team B would be -3. Some of these potential three tiebreakers are factored in below.

WYOPREPS FOOTBALL PLAYOFF SCENARIOS 2025

Here is a breakdown of each classification’s playoff picture heading into Week 8 games.

Class 4A:

In = Sheridan, Campbell County, East, Central, Natrona, Thunder Basin, and Laramie.

Bubble = Kelly Walsh, Rock Springs.

Out = South.

Already Locked in:

Sheridan = No. 1 seed

To Be Determined:

Campbell County at East = Winner of the Week 8 game is the No. 2 seed; loser is the No. 3 seed.

Natrona County at Central = Winner of the Week 8 game is the No. 4 seed; loser is the No. 5 seed; they will rematch in the first round.

Thunder Basin = No. 6 seed with a win. No. 7 seed with a loss and a Laramie win.

Laramie = No. 6 seed with a win and a Thunder Basin loss; No. 7 seed with a win and a Thunder Basin win; No. 7 seed with a loss

Kelly Walsh at Rock Springs = Winner will be the No. 8 seed. The loser is eliminated.

NC has head-to-head tiebreakers over Thunder Basin and Laramie. TB has the tiebreaker over Laramie, KW, and RS. Laramie has the tiebreaker over KW and RS.

Class 3A East:

In = Riverton, Lander.

Bubble = Douglas, Buffalo, Torrington.

Out = Rawlins.

Already Locked in:

Riverton = No. 1 seed

Seeds To Be Determined:

No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 seeds – Lander has a win over Douglas, and Douglas has a win over Buffalo. Both were by 12 points or more.

Lander = No. 2 seed with a win at Buffalo.

Douglas = No. 3 seed with a win and a Lander win at Buffalo.

Buffalo = No. 4 seed with a loss and a Douglas win at Torrington.

Three-way tiebreaker No. 1 = Lander loses at Buffalo & Douglas wins at Torrington = all finish 3-2: If Lander loses by 11 points or less, they would win the 3-way tiebreaker and get the No. 2 seed; Douglas’ head-to-head win over Buffalo would make the Bearcats No.3 and Bison No. 4. If Lander loses by 12 points or more, it would be a coin flip because all 3 teams would be at 0 points in the 3-way tiebreaker. The winner of the coin flip gets the No. 2 seed, and the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds would be determined by the head-to-head result.

Three-way tiebreaker No. 2 = Buffalo loses to Lander & Torrington beats Douglas = all finish 2-3: If Douglas loses by 11 points or less, they would win the 3-way tiebreaker and get the No. 3 seed; Buffalo’s head-to-head win over Torrington would make the Bison the No. 4 seed and eliminate the Blazers. If Douglas loses by 12 points or more, it goes to a coin flip again because all 3 teams would be at 0 points in a 3-way tiebreaker. The winner of the coin flip gets the No. 3 seed, and the No. 4 seed would be decided by the head-to-head outcome.

Big Horn = No. 1 seed

Newcastle = No. 2 seed

Burns = No 3. seed

Glenrock No. 4 seed

Class 1A-9 Man East:

In = Pine Bluffs, Lingle-Ft. Laramie, Saratoga.

Bubble = Lusk, Wright

Out = Southeast.

Already Locked in:

Pine Bluffs = No. 1 seed

Seeds To Be Determined:

Lingle-Ft. Laramie at Saratoga = Winner is the No. 2 seed, and the loser is the No. 3 seed.

Wright at Lusk = Winner is the No. 4 seed, and the loser is eliminated.

Class 1A-9 Man West:

In = Greybull, Big Piney.

Bubble = Rocky Mountain, Shoshoni, Wind River.

Out = Wyoming Indian

Already Locked in:

Greybull = No. 1 seed

Seeds To Be Determined:

No. 2, No.3, and No. 4 seeds – Big Piney has a win over Rocky Mountain, and Rocky Mountain has a win over Shoshoni.

Big Piney = No. 2 seed with a win over Shoshoni.

Rocky Mountain = No. 3 seed with a win over Wind River and a Big Piney win over Shoshoni.

Shoshoni = No. 4 seed with a loss to Big Piney and a Rocky Mountain win over Wind River.

Three-way tiebreaker No. 1 = Big Piney loses to Shoshoni and Rocky Mountain beats Wind River = all finish 3-2: Rocky Mountain is at +10 after a loss to BP and a win over Shoshoni; Big Piney sits at +2 before their game against Shoshoni; the Wranglers are at -12; If Big Piney loses by 6 points or fewer, the Punchers would get the No. 3 seed in a 3-way tiebreaker, and Shoshoni would be the No. 4 seed; If Shoshoni wins by 7 points or more, the Wranglers would be the No. 3 seed and Big Piney would be the No. 4 seed. Rocky Mountain’s tie-breaker point total in the 3-way gives the Grizzlies the edge, and they would be the No. 2 seed.

Three-way tiebreaker No. 2 = Wind River beats Rocky Mountain, and Shoshoni loses to Big Piney = all finish 2-3: Rocky Mountain sits at +12 with a large win over Shoshoni; Shoshoni is at -6 after a win over Wind River and a loss to Rocky Mountain; Wind River is at -6 after a loss to Shoshoni; If Wind River wins by 9 points or more, the Cougars are the No. 3 seed, Rocky Mountain is No. 4, and Shoshoni is eliminated; If Wind River wins by 8 points or fewer, Rocky Mountain is No. 3, and Wind River is No. 4, and Shoshoni is eliminated; The Wranglers lose out in a 3-way tiebreaker because even if WR wins by 1, it puts them at -5 and Shoshoni is still at -6 after the 3-way tiebreaker outcomes.

Class 1A 6-man North:

In = Burlington, Hulett, Meeteetse, Riverside.

Out = Kaycee, Midwest, Ten Sleep.

Already Locked in:

Burlington = No. 1 seed

Hulett = No. 2 seed

Seeds To Be Determined:

Riverside at Meeteetse = Winner gets the No. 3 seed, and the loser is the No. 4 seed.

Class 1A 6-man South:

In = Encampment, Little Snake River.

Bubble = Casper Christian, Dubois, Farson-Eden.

Out = H.E.M.

Already Locked in:

None

Seeds To Be Determined:

Encampment at Little Snake River = Winner gets the No. 1 seed, and the loser is the No. 2 seed.

Casper Christian = No. 3 seed with a win versus Dubois.

Farson-Eden = No. 4 seed with a Dubois loss to Casper Christian.

Three-way tiebreaker = Dubois beats Casper Christian, those two and Farson-Eden finish at 2-3: Farson-Eden is at 0 after a large loss to Casper Christian and a large win over Dubois; Casper Christian is at +12 after their win over Farson-Eden; Dubois is at -12 after their loss to Farson-Eden; If Dubois wins by 12 or more points at Casper Christian, that puts all 3 schools at 0 in the 3-way tiebreaker and will lead to a coin toss. The winner of the coin toss gets the No. 3 seed, and the No. 4 seed goes to the head-to-head winner of the remaining two teams in the tiebreaker. The odd team out is eliminated. If Dubois wins by 11 points or fewer, the Rams finish with a minus point total, which would eliminate them, and Casper Christian would be the No. 3 seed, and Farson-Eden would be No. 4.
