We’re one week away from the regular season of high school football wrapping up. Some pieces to the playoff puzzle have been determined, while others are still up in the air. Tiebreakers start with the result of head-to-head games. Then, it goes to the result of games against the highest-ranking non-tied team in the conference standings. You continue through that until the tie is broken. If a tie still exists, it goes to a modified points system, where the most you can get for a victory is +12, and the most for a loss is -12.

An example is if Team A defeated Team B, 28-0, Team A would be +12, while Team B would be -12. If the score was 10-7, Team A would be +3 and Team B would be -3. Some of these potential three and four-way tiebreakers are factored in below.

It's been a long couple of days, and I know I make mistakes, so if you see an error in the calculations, please email david@wyopreps.com.

Here’s what it looks like:

Class 4A:

In = Sheridan, Campbell County, East, Natrona, Rock Springs, Thunder Basin.

Bubble = Kelly Walsh, Laramie, Central.

Out = South.

Already Locked in:

Sheridan = No. 1 seed

Natrona County = No. 4 seed

To Be Determined:

East at Campbell County = Winner of the Week 8 game is the No. 2 seed; the loser is the No. 3 seed.

Kelly Walsh = No. 5 seed with a win versus Rock Springs; No. 6 seed with a loss to Rock Springs and a Thunder Basin loss to South; No. 7 seed with a loss to Rock Springs and a Thunder Basin win over South. No. 8 seed with a loss to Rock Springs, Thunder Basin win over South, and a Central win over NC. Eliminated with a loss, Laramie win, and Central win.

Rock Springs = No. 5 seed with a win over Kelly Walsh and a Thunder Basin loss to South; No. 6 seed with a win over Kelly Walsh and a Thunder Basin win over South; No. 7 seed with a loss.

Thunder Basin = No. 5 seed with a win over South and Rock Springs win over Kelly Walsh; No. 6 seed with a win or loss to South and a Kelly Walsh win over Rock Springs; No. 7 seed with a loss to South and Kelly Walsh win over Rock Springs. No. 8 seed with a loss, a Central win, and a KW loss.

Laramie = No. 7 seed with a win over Sheridan, Central win, and RS win; No. 8 seed with a win over Sheridan, an NC win, and KW loss; No. 8 seed with a loss to Sheridan and a Central loss to NC; eliminated with a loss to Sheridan and a Central win over NC.

Central = eliminated with a loss to NC; No. 8 seed with a win over NC, Laramie loss to Sheridan, a KW win over Rock Springs, and Thunder Basin win over South. No. 6 seed with a win, a KW loss, and a TB loss on the points tiebreaker; No. 7 seed with a win, a TB win, and a KW loss.

Class 3A East:

In = Douglas, Riverton, Torrington

Bubble = Buffalo, Lander.

Out = Rawlins.

Seeds To Be Determined:

Douglas = No. 1 seed with a win over Torrington. No. 2 seed with a loss to Torrington and a Riverton loss; 1-2-3 tiebreaker with loss to Torrington and Riverton win.

Riverton = 1-2-3 tiebreaker with a win and Torrington win over Douglas; No. 2 seed with a Douglas victory; No. 3 seed with a loss and a Torrington victory.

Torrington = No. 1 seed with a win and a Rawlins win over Riverton; 1-2-3 tiebreaker with a win and a Riverton win over Rawlins; No. 3 seed with a loss.

Tiebreaker points now = Douglas is +7, Riverton +5, and Torrington is -12. Scenarios:

Torrington wins by 1 or 2 points = Douglas No. 1, Riverton No. 2, & Torrington No. 3.

Torrington wins by 3 or more points = Riverton No. 1, Torrington No. 2, Douglas No. 3.

Buffalo-Lander winner in Week 8 = No. 4 seed; loser is eliminated.

Class 2A East:

In = Big Horn, Burns, Newcastle, Wheatland

Out = Glenrock, Moorcroft, Tongue River, Upton-Sundance.

Wheatland = No. 2 seed with a win over Newcastle and a Moorcroft win over Burns; No. 4 seed with a loss to Newcastle. 2-3-4 points tiebreaker with a win and a Burns win.

Points Tiebreaker = Newcastle is +12 entering Week 8, Burns is -4, and Wheatland is -8. If Wheatland wins by 9 points or less, Newcastle is No. 2 on the points tiebreaker, Burns is No. 3, and Wheatland is No. 4 based on Burns' head-to-head win. If Wheatland wins by 10 points or more, Wheatland gets the No. 2 seed, Newcastle the No. 3 seed, and Burns the No. 4 seed.

Upton-Sundance is eliminated because of losses to Burns, Newcastle, and Wheatland. In any scenario with U-S getting to 4-3 with 2 other teams, the WHSAA tiebreaker says if 1 team lost to the other two, that team is the lowest seed, meaning in a 3-4-5 tie, U-S would be out due to the head-to-head losses.

Class 2A West:

In = Mountain View, Cokeville, Lovell

Bubble = Worland, Thermopolis

Out = Kemmerer, Lyman, Pinedale.

Seeds To Be Determined:

Mountain View = No. 1 seed with a win over Lyman; No. 2 seed with a loss; MV already has wins over Cokeville and Lovell, so they win a head-to-head tiebreaker for the No. 2 seed.

Lovell = No. 1 seed with a win over Cokeville and a MV loss; No. 2 seed with a win over Cokeville and a MV win; No. 3 seed with a loss to Cokeville.

Worland = No. 4 seed with a win; eliminated from playoffs contention with a loss.

Thermopolis = No. 4 seed with a win and a Worland loss; No. 4 seed with a loss and a Worland loss because of their win over MV – get tiebreaker over Worland and Kemmerer.

Class 1A-9 Man West:

In = Big Piney, Shoshoni, Greybull

Bubble = Rocky Mountain, Wind River.

Still the No. 1 seed with a loss to Shoshoni by 7 points or less; No. 2 seed with a loss to Shoshoni by 8 points or more.

Greybull = No. 2 seed with a win over Wyoming Indian and a Big Piney win over Shoshoni; 1-2-3 points tiebreaker scenario with a win over Wyoming Indian and a Shoshoni win over Big Piney. Based on points tiebreaker scenarios, Greybull gets the No. 2 seed with a Shoshoni win by 7 points or less; the No. 3 seed with a Shoshoni win by 8 points or more.

Shoshoni = No. 1 seed with a win over Big Piney and a Greybull loss to Wyoming Indian; No. 3 seed with a loss; 1-2-3 points tiebreaker with a win over Big Piney and a Greybull win over Wyoming Indian. No. 1 seed with a win over Big Piney by 8 points or more; No. 3 seed with a win by 7 points or fewer because that would put them 2nd in the tiebreaker, which puts BP as the No. 1 seed, and then reverts to the head-to-head tiebreaker against Greybull, which the Buffs win.

Current points tiebreaker = Big Piney +10, Greybull -5, Shoshoni -5.

Rocky Mountain-Wind River = Winner of the Week 8 game gets the No. 4 seed; the loser is eliminated

3-4-5 seed tiebreaker = Kaycee +9, Meeteetse 0, Midwest -9; Kaycee would be No. 3 on points, and Meeteetse is No. 4 based on a head-to-head win over Midwest.

2-3-4 seed tiebreaker = Meeteetse is the No. 2 seed with a 2-0 record over Riverside and Midwest; Riverside is the No. 3 seed with a head-to-head win over Midwest, who would be the No. 4 seed.
