The second stop on the WyoPreps Preseason Football Tour was to visit the Riverton Wolverines. Mark Lenhardt starts his third season as head coach. Riverton went 8-3 last year and finished second in the 3A East at 4-1. The Wolverines reached the semifinals of the 3A playoffs, where they fell to the eventual champs, Star Valley. They are another veteran team. The Wolverines return eight starters on offense and nine on defense. After going one step beyond their 2023 season last fall, Riverton wants to take another step forward this year.

WYOPREPS PREVIEWS THE 2025 RIVERTON WOLVERINES

Riverton brings back their starting QB, running back, and No. 1 receiver. Combined with some more experience up front, the Wolverines could be potent on offense. They were sixth in rushing and sixth in passing during the 2024 season. Riverton averaged 307 yards and 21.5 points per game. Hunter Saltsgaver led 3A in scoring last fall. He finished at 113 points. Saltsgaver, who is a soccer star, scored 13 TDs. He rushed for 1,129 yards and 5.9 yards per carry. Hunter’s 102.6 yards per game was third-best in 3A. QB Blake Gantenbein threw for 132.3 yards per game. He had 10 TDs and nine interceptions. Gantenbein completed 57.9 percent of his passes. Defensively, the top two point-getters graduated. One area Riverton wants to improve is its run defense. They allowed 180 yards per game, which was 11th out of 12 teams in 3A. On the plus side, the Wolverines were second against the pass. They were fifth in total defense and gave up only 287 yards per game. Kaiden Arnold is the top returning defender. He was No. 41 in 3A defensive points or 8.9 per game. Arnold made 46 tackles a year ago.
