Mountain View’s Fletcher Black Picks Chadron State for Football
Mountain View senior Fletcher Black will continue his football career after signing at Chadron State College in Nebraska. Black was an all-conference player for the Buffalos during the 2023 season. He helped Mountain View to a 10-1 record last fall and a semifinal appearance in the Class 2A playoffs. They won the 2A West Conference regular season title. The Buffaloes were 6-0 in conference games.
Black played on the line for Mountain View and earned three varsity letters. He was a three-year starter on the offense live at tackle. Black also played on the defensive line. He helped the Buffalos rank No. 2 in team rushing in Class 2A at 247 yards per game. They were No. 3 in total offense at 332 yards per game and averaged 29.5 points per game. On defense, Black had seven tackles, which included one sack and one tackle for loss. Mountain View was No. 2 in total defense and allowed only 197 yards and 8.5 points per game.
This summer, Black will participate in the 51st Wyoming Shrine Bowl all-star football game as a member of the South Team.
Chadron State College competes at the Division II level. The Eagles are a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Chadron State was 5-6 in the 2023 season.
