
Mountain View’s Landon Solaas Signs at Chadron State for Football
Mountain View senior Landon Solaas will further his football career after committing to Chadron State College as a kicker. Solaas was a three-year varsity starter and letter-winner for the Buffalos. He was an all-state selection his senior season in 2024 and a two-time all-conference pick during his prep career. Solaas played tight end and defensive end at MVHS. He was also the kicker. Landon has been selected to play for the South Team at the Wyoming Shrine Bowl in June 2025. He holds school records for longest field goal, longest punt, field goal percentage, and touchbacks.
Solaas helped Mountain View to a 9-2 record last fall. They won the 2A West Conference regular season title with a 6-1 record. The Buffalos advanced to the semifinals of the 2A football playoffs. Landon had four catches for 39 yards, which included a long reception of 28 yards. He added 3 rushing attempts for 15 yards. He was part of an offense that averaged 336 yards and 32 points per game. On defense, Solaas was third on the team with 70 tackles and second with 158 defensive points. He made 41 solo stops, had 15 tackles for loss, and two sacks. Landon recovered two fumbles, forced three fumbles, had one interception, and three pass breakups. On special teams, Solaas averaged 57.6 yards per kickoff. He had 23 touchbacks, and five more landed inside the 20-yard line. Solaas was 37-42 on extra points. He punted 27 times for an average of 38.7 yards per punt and put three inside the 20-yard line. His long was a 58-yard punt. Solaas had three punt returns for 64 yards with a long of 47 yards. He added two kick-off returns for 49 yards with a long of 32 yards.
In 2023, Solaas had three catches for 90 yards. He rushed six times for 27 yards. On defense, Landon made 77 tackles with 49 solo stops. He had 16 tackles for loss and seven sacks. Solaas averaged 56.9 yards per kickoff with 28 touchbacks and two more inside the 20-yard line. He was 6-10 on field goal attempts with a long of 50 yards. Solaas went 35-42 on extra-point attempts. He punted 30 times for an average of 50.9 yards. Solaas’ long was 70 yards. He had three touchbacks and eight inside the 20-yard line.

Solaas also wrestled and played soccer at MVHS.
Chadron State College is in Chadron, NE. The Eagles compete at the NCAA Division II level and are part of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).
