
Wheatland’s Bode Stone Inks for Football at North Dakota State College of Science
Wheatland senior Bode Stone recently signed a national letter of intent to play football at the North Dakota State College of Science. Stone was a four-year letter-winner on the gridiron and team captain for the Bulldogs. He was also a two-year qualifier for the state track meet.
Stone helped Wheatland to a 4-6 record last fall and a berth in the Class 2A playoffs. He tied for the team lead at 10.1 defensive points per game. Stone registered 52 total tackles, which included six tackles for loss. He also forced one fumble. Stone even scored a touchdown in the 2024 season for Wheatland. The Bulldogs had the No. 3 defense in 2A football. They allowed only 219 yards and 22.2 points per game.
In his junior year in 2023, Stone finished at 10.6 defensive points per game. He made 47 total tackles, which included two sacks and two fumble recoveries. Wheatland went 4-6 that season.
Stone earned all-state honors during the 2025 indoor track season. He placed second at the 3A indoor track state championships with a toss of 47-03.50.
In outdoor track, Stone was the 2025 Class 3A state champion in the shot put at 50-05.50. At the 3A East Regional track meet, he set a school record at 54-07. He placed sixth at the state track meet in the 3A discus at 135-09. Stone set a personal record and took first at the 3A East Regional track meet with a toss of 149 feet.
Stone played in the Hawai’i Tiki Bowl Senior All-Star game last December. He was also selected to play in the Wyoming Shrine Bowl next month in Casper.
The North Dakota State College of Science is in Wahpeton, ND. The Wildcats compete at the NJCAA level of collegiate sports.
