Pinedale High School grad and current University of Utah golfer Jordan Costello punched his ticket to the prestigious U.S. Amateur tournament to be held at the Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles next month. Costello carded rounds of 68-69 at the Three Crowns Golf Club in Casper  at the regional qualifer

to beat Riverton's Easton Paxton by 3 strokes and Cheyenne East grad Quintin Pope by 5. Paxton is a North Carolina State signee and Pope currently competes for the University of Wyoming.

Costello was a 3 time Wyoming high school champion with his last title in 2016 by 16 strokes. He was also a member of the Wyoming 4 man team that finished 2nd at the Junior America's Cup. In his first year at Utah, he played in 5 tournaments with a 76 strokes per round average with an 18th place finish at the Utah Invitational.

Costello will be playing in a pro-am at the Snake River Sporting Club in Jackson starting on Thursday which be followed by the huge PAC Coast Amateur at Chambers Bay in Washington State.
