Campbell County senior Avery Gray recently signed with the Montana State University-Billings Yellowjacket softball program.

Gray is a three-time all-state and all-conference selection for the Camels. She is the reigning Gatorade Wyoming Softball Player of the Year from the 2023 season.

Gray helped CCHS win the state’s first softball championship in the 2021 season. The Camels have finished third in each of the last two seasons.

During the 2023 season, Gray went 10-4 in the circle with a 2.99 earned run average and 164 strikeouts over 84.1 innings pitched. Last spring at the plate, she had a .707 batting average with 70 hits and 72 RBIs.

Gray is the current state record holder with 526 career strikeouts.

As a sophomore in the 2022 season, Gray went 15-3 in the circle with a 2.56 ERA and 197 strikeouts over 98.1 innings pitched. At the plate that year, she had a .409 batting average and had 36 hits and 40 RBIs. The Camels finished with an overall record of 18-10.

In her freshman season back in 2021, Gray hit .560 with 42 total hits and 26 RBIs. As a pitcher, she threw 102 innings, finished with 165 strikeouts, and had a 4.24 ERA. Campbell County won the inaugural title that season and went 18-8.

Gray will play her senior season of softball next spring at CCHS.

MSUB competes at the NCAA Division II level. The Yellowjackets are a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. They finished the 2023 season at 18-28.
