The cross country season came to a close on Saturday in Cheyenne, with one freshman, one sophomore, and one senior winning state championships. The senior was Powell's Kinley Cooley, who easily won the 3A race and showed significant improvement from a year ago. The sophomore was Maggie Madsen of Cheyenne East, who dominated the 4A race and was a top-four finisher last season at the State Meet.

The freshman was Lyla Marney of Big Horn who put her competition in the rearview mirror right off the bat and cruised to the victory. We had a chance to chat with all three of these ladies and it was a solid performance all the way around.
