The Green River boys basketball team has made miles of progress over the past couple of seasons and made their first appearance at the state tournament since 2009. The Wolves went 15-11 with an all-state player leading the way in Chase Stoeger who averaged 17 points a game. Braxton Yeager was a double-digit scorer with 11 and so was Matthew Seymour with 10. In the quarterfinal round of the state tournament, Green River dropped a 63-54 decision to Gillette as Stoeger dropped in 18 and Yeager had a dozen. The Wolves were 5-19 from the 3 point line in that game. In the consolation round, Green River was eliminated by Evanston 58-44 as Stoeger dropped in 18 again and Yeager chipped in 13. The Wolves shot just 24% from the field in the 2nd half. The big picture here is that the program has resurrected themselves but will have a ton of seniors to replace. The challenge continues.
