Thunder Basin senior Kinley Solem has chosen to play volleyball in college at Gillette College.

Solem was a four-year letter winner in volleyball and a three-year letter winner in basketball for the Bolts.

In her senior year last fall, Solem had 122 kills, 150 digs, 79 total blocks, and 42 service aces for Thunder Basin. She helped the Bolts to a 36-7 record and a berth in the 4A volleyball state tournament.

The 5-9 senior has played middle, outside, and right-side hitter at TBHS.

In her sophomore and junior seasons of 2020 and 2021, Solem helped Thunder Basin take third place at the 4A volleyball state tournament both years. The Bolts were 25-12 in 2021 and 19-6 in 2020. As a freshman in 2019, Thunder Basin lost in the 4A championship and finished with an overall record of 29-8.

Solem also played basketball at TBHS. She helped the Bolts to a runner-up finish at the 2023 Class 4A basketball state tournament. Solem averaged six points and four rebounds per game.

Gillette College is starting its volleyball program in the fall of 2023. Solem is part of the Pronghorns’ inaugural recruiting class. Kinley will play for Julia Machin, the first coach for Gillette College women’s volleyball.
