Little Snake River 1A 6-Man Championship Postgame Remarks
1A 6-Man football games are wide open, to say the least, and Little Snake River displayed a polished effort with an 87-50 victory in the State Championship game over Burlington in Laramie on Saturday. These two teams met for the 6-Man Championship a year ago with Burlington prevailing that one. But the Huskies had no answer whatsoever for LSR running back Bridger Cozzens.
You needed a calculator to keep up with the rushing yardage that Cozzens was piling up in the game. Fans, coaches, and players watched him zoom to the end with the greatest of ease and all told, Cozzens had 7 rushing touchdowns and 1 receiving TD. He rang up an astounding 482 yards rushing which broke the 1A 6-Man Championship game record by over 100 yards. He also had 11 tackles on defense so that's the way to end your high school football career.
While Cozzens was running wild, quarterback Mason Jones threw for 153 yards and five touchdowns. He managed the game and got some help from the Rattler defense. Granit Ready led the team in tackles with 14, Ervey Marquez had 10 and Deke Latham added 9.
We had a chance to talk with Cozzens, Jones, and Latham after the game and they loved that championship feeling!
