Maggie Turpin of Laramie Signs with Nevada for Diving
Laramie High School diver Maggie Turpin capped her amazing prep career last month with a dominating performance at the 4A State Championships in Cheyenne. Not only did she take first place, she set the state record in the event with 478.50 points. That eclipsed the previous record set by Laramie's Mallorie Hamel of 464.25. She was equally dominant at the 4A East Regional Meet with 511.25. All those accomplishments will take her to the Division I level in college at the University of Nevada.
In her junior season. Turpin earned All-American status and a 4A State Championship in the 1-Meter event with 427.60 points. She started her diving career as a sophomore in Sheridan and took 3rd at the State Meet that season with 376.05 points.
Turpin in her high school career has competed in the Region 9 Zones event taking 2nd in the 3-meter diving and 5th in the 1-meter. She has experience with the Wyoming Dive Club and took up gymnastics at an early age.
Nevada is a member of the Mountain West Conference, and a Wolfpack diver has won the conference championship in the 1-meter event in two of the last three years and nine times since 2013. In the 3-meter events, Nevada had a conference champ in two of the last four years and eight times since 2013
