Mekhi Bovee of Kelly Walsh Commits to Morningside University

Kelly Walsh's Mekhi Bovee will take his athletic skills to the next level in both wrestling and football at Morningside University in Sioux City, Iowa. Bovee had a solid wrestling season in his senior year, taking 3rd place at the 4A State Tournament in Casper at 190 pounds. He recorded 4 pins in the tournament and man-handled his opponents en route to 45 wins and 10 losses.

Bovee also had a strong performance at the big Ron Thon Tournament with a 2nd-place finish at 215 in a loaded bracket. In his junior year, Bovee went 20-7 on the mat and took 4th place at the 2024 4A State Tournament at 215 pounds.

On the football field for the Trojans, he patrolled the outside linebacker spot with 34 tackles in 2024, 19 of them solo. He also saw time at the running back spot with 148 yards rushing. Bovee was a major factor on defense in his junior season with the Trojans, with 27 tackles, of them solo.

Morningside University is a NAIA institution that competes in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
