Minor Changes in the New WyoPreps Boys Basketball Rankings
The latest WyoPreps Coaches and Media Boys Basketball Poll has movement in all four classes before the holidays.
The top-ranked teams remain the same, but there is shifting in three classifications, and one new team enters the poll.
In Class 2A, Pine Bluffs remains at the top with 13 of the 17 first-place votes. The Hornets are followed by Tongue River. The Eagles received three votes for No.1 and jump up two spots into second in this week’s poll. Rocky Mountain and Big Piney fall one spot each to third and fourth, respectively. St. Stephens enters the poll for the first time this season at No. 5. They are undefeated through the first two weeks of the season.
Class 4A features minor shuffling. Thunder Basin is a unanimous pick for No. 1 with all 15 votes for first. Sheridan remains second, but by only three points in the voting over Kelly Walsh. The Trojans climb from fourth to third. Cheyenne East falls to fourth, while Cheyenne Central stays in fifth.
Douglas is on top of Class 3A for the second straight poll. The Bearcats earned 12 of the 14 votes for No. 1. Worland is second, while Buffalo is now third. The Bison are three points in the voting ahead of Rawlins, who falls to fourth. Lyman and Lander are tied for the second time in three rankings this season. This time it is for fifth.
It’s the same top five in Class 1A. Upton is a unanimous choice for No. 1 with all 15 first-place votes. Saratoga, Dubois, Burlington, and Farson-Eden stay second through fifth. Seven more teams earned votes in the 1A poll.
