Mountain View senior and Evanston Outlaw baseball player Ashton Eldredge has signed with Valley City State University in North Dakota.

Eldredge is a player in the Evanston Outlaws Legion baseball season. In 2021, as a pitcher, he had 73 strikeouts and a team-high 11 pickoffs. Eldredge held opponents to a batting average of .297 last season.

In a release sent to WyoPreps, Eldredge said, “Thank you to all the little league coaches, and legion coaches who have helped me throughout these years! I would like to thank my parents and sister for always supporting me. Also thank my teammates and friends. I am blessed with a great support system and I am truly thankful for everyone!”

On Day 2 of the 2021 ‘AA’ American Legion Baseball State Tournament, Eldredge started an elimination game and helped the Outlaws survive and advance to Day 3. He threw four innings of a 10-0 shutout victory. Eldredge allowed three hits with five strikeouts and one walk. He also was 2-3 at the plate in that game.

Eldredge also played two years of football and four years of basketball at Mountain View High School. He was part of the Buffalos’ 2021 boys’ basketball team that finished as the Class 3A runner-up.

Valley City State University is in Valley City, ND. The Vikings compete at the NAIA level. They are in the North Star Athletic Association.
