The National High School Finals Rodeo is in the middle of the 2nd go-round with these cowboys and cowgirls trying to secure a spot in the championship short go on Saturday. The Wyoming boys team has faired quite well in the finals with Jace Mayfield of Midwest sitting in 4th place in the average heading into Friday's action. Mayfield has a total time of 20.94. In the saddle bronc, Greybull's Jake Schlattmann was 10th in the average after the two performances on Thursday with 128 on 2.  Gillette's Hayden Welch is 9th in the average with a 75 with his 2nd ride coming up later this week. Grady Edwards of Gillette is 22nd in the bareback aggregate with Bohdi Coombs of Wellington sitting in 28th in the steer wrestling. Kash Reynolds of Rozet and Talon Larson of Gillette are 27th in the team roping for the moment.  Ean McGuire of Wheatland is 49th in the cutting. As of Friday morning, the Wyoming boys were in 6th place.

On the girls' side, Shayda Lesmeister from Rozet is 8th in the pole bending at 41.026. Raelee Caldwell from Gillette is in 18th in the breakaway roping at 6.95 while  Teanna Jolovich of Gillette is running in 19th place in the cutting. Baliegh Lane from Huntley is 22nd in the reined cow horse with Hadley Thompson sitting in 23rd place in the goat tying heading into Friday's performances. Jordan Morman of Gillette is in 50th place in barrel racing and the Wyoming girls' team is in 14th place.

That championship short go will be Saturday night at 7 pm at the Camplex in Gillette.
