The Fillies would sweep their way through all 3 opponents at the state tournament, and avenge 2 losses vs. the Lady Camels in the process.

The boys will settle their differences on the football field in a few days...but in this instance...it was all about showing up to support the girls, who were doing the same thing on the volleyball court.

Gillette vs. Natrona for the 4A state championship...first game...Gillette wearing the purple...and the defense showed up early...Ali Joslyn with the block and that ball is not coming back...that's the first point of the match, and she has her team up 1-nothing.

They had some offense too...this is Sydney Matheny and she'll slice one right through the heart of the opposing defense...everything was clicking early as the Lady Camels went ahead, 2-zip.

Natrona responded...Sierra Bartsch finds some room behind the front line and her aim was dead on...her team is right back in this game...down 3-to-2.

These 2 teams met in the finals of the Gillette and Casper Invites earlier this season...with the Lady Camels winning both times...but Bartsch was making sure the third time was not as easy...the Fillies are now ahead, 4-to-3.

Moving on...Lauren Taubert serving...gets an assist from the net and there's an ace into Campbell County's face...N-C was making a move...leading 18-to-12.

Gillette played it smart and kept the big girls up front...that helped on plays like this one...Cheyenne Palu with a light touch and she gets the drop...her team is still down though...18-to-13.

Sometimes...you got to take the fight to the big girls...and that's exactly what Bartsch had in mind. That kill was strong enough to get through and find the floor for another point...Natrona ups their advantage to 19-to-13.

Later...other weapons showed up for the Fillies...like Gabby Johnson...right smack dab into the opposition and that has her team pumped...the scoreboard reads, 22-to-14.

Defense time for N-C...this is Sarah Jones...giving up 6 inches...and still managed to get the block...the sophomore knows how to jump and it payed off on that play...now it's 24-to-15.

Gillette did not take too kind to that...and neither did Matheny...she wanted some payback and she got it on this play...but her team needs more, trailing 24-to-16.

But the Fillies knew they had to finish this soon, because if you give the opposition a chance to come back...they will...Taubert takes care of that problem, as her team would win the all important first game...25-to-16.

Onto game 2...Natrona is on the right...here's their big girl...Emily Robertson...6 feet 2 and she's just a sophomore, so she has more to grow...there's one stuff, to make the score, 16-to-9.

The Lady Camels realized they need to stay away from her...and they did...this is Hannah Huus with a quick kill for her team...and she got that point back, but they're still down 16-to-10.

Things went back and forth for a bit...and that was to be expected...Robertson brought the hammer down a few times on offense...the favor has been returned...the Fillies are ahead, 17-to-10.

...and the see-saw would go the other way...Shelby Johnson...not going full force on this play, but enough to get the point across...she's one of 8 seniors on this team, but they are still in a 17-to-11 deficit.

The underclassmen were getting the job done for the opposition...like I said..Bartsch is a junior...the kill is long, but it barely found a spot in the back-court...hey it worked...N-C is still ahead, 18-to-11.

Gillette would find their ways to keep hanging around...here's Bailey Huber...keeping it just inside the line and that's worth another point...her team trails, 20-to-14.

They were trying to make a come-back...Matheny is going to make a contribution...she'll pound this one into the ground and was rewarded for a point...but they are still behind, 21-to-15.

...and the defense was trying to contribute too...Johnson will win this battle at the net, despite being outsized...the Camels though are still on the wrong end of a 23-18 score.

Natrona was not about ready to let them get any closer...Robertson will bring the hammer down this time, to finish things off...as her team would win 25-to-18 and take a 2-games to nothing lead.

Now in game 3...the Fillies would build another lead and they wanted to get this match over with...Bartsch is going to get them one step closer...she was feeling it, and her team is up 21-to-14.

The opposition was not going to go down without a fight...Huber with a cross court kill that would leave its mark...the Lady Camels were trying to come back...down 22-to-15 at this point.

Actually...NC was having some problems trying to finish this one...and Gillette took advantage...Johnson finds the hole in the defense and slipped that one in...it was much needed...now it's 22-to-16.

They kept getting closer...Matheny will add on to the cause...she gets between 2 defenders and finds a point her team...they need more though...they would eventually get within 1 point...down 23-22.

Then the Fillies would snap out of their funk...Jones with a light touch...and someone on the other side of the net got a piece of it...they are now 1 point away...leading 24-22.

But it wasn't quite over just yet...Matheny had another point to make...and she'll send that one straight to you know where downstairs...The Lady Camels need another one though...down 24-23.

However...Gillette made the last mistake...and it was costly...the serve is long...game and match...Natrona sweeps their way to the 4A state title...winning 25-16, 25-18 and 25-23 for their first title since 2007...the Fillies would finish the season with a record of 28-and-6.
