Newcastle certainly will be a state championship contender in 3A girl basketball with a strong group of returning players from a year ago. The Dogies won 23 games in the 2021-22 season which is a school record and return a pair of all-state players. Jaylen Ostsenson is a 3-time all-state pick and has been averaging 20 points and 8 rebounds per game. Shelby Tidyman earned all-state status and is averaging 9 points per game. In addition to those two, MacKenzie Conzelman and Tiernan Stanton were all-conference last season.

The Dogies have six seniors and the window for winning is open right now. Newcastle turned in a business-like effort in their win 59-32 win over Glenrock on Friday night to improve to 8-2 on the season. We caught up with Ostenson and Tidyman for their thoughts on the Glenrock game and the road going forward.
