PhotoFest: Newcastle Beats Wheatland in 2A Football

The 2A football regular season is in the books and it's time for post-season play. Heading into the playoffs, Newcastle has some serious momentum as they have won 5 in a row after a 40-13 road win over Wheatland on Friday night. The Dogies are 6-2 and have made the playoffs in 2 of the last 3 years.

Newcastle is the #1 rushing team in 2A by a wide margin with Landon Hatheway and Teddy Troftgruben combining for 1253 yards on the ground with 17 touchdowns. That formula has been effective this year plus, they're getting an all-star season on defense from Colin McConkey who has 81 tackles so far this season.

Wheatland has won 4 out of 6 and sits at 4-5 on the year. The Bulldogs have received 761 yards rushing from Waylon Milnes but as the 4th seed from the East, they have a long road trip to Mountain View for their quarterfinal round playoff game. Newcastle on the other hand will be at home in round one to take on Cokeville.
