PhotoFest! 48th Milward Simpson Awards in 2023

The annual Milward Simpson Awards luncheon was last Saturday in Cody, WY, at the Cody Auditorium.

The 48th annual event hosts the finalist for the Outstanding High School Athlete Award.

Committee members Dale Ann Meeker, Rob Cragoe, and Jenelle Andrade hosted this year's ceremony. Several members of the Simpson Family, including brothers, Senator Al Simpson and Pete Simpson, the two sons of Milward Simpson, were in attendance.

Six of this year's ten finalists were in attendance. Two others were represented by family, and one was represented by two coaches.

The female finalists were Cheyenne Central's Sydney Morrell, Cody's Ally Boysen and Kennedi Niemann, Lyman's Sage Bradshaw, and Joelie Spelts from Thunder Basin in Gillette.

The male finalists were Big Piney's Colby Jenks, Garet Schlabs from Cheyenne East, Cody's Luke Talich, Lander's Gage Gose, and Colson Coon of Sheridan.

This year's winners were Kennedi Niemann and Luke Talich from Cody High School.
