Big Horn won all the marbles last season in 2A football and after a season-opening loss in 2023, the Rams have reeled off 4 wins in a row. The latest victory came on Friday in Wheatland as they beat the home-standing Bulldogs 35-14.

Big Horn took control of the game in the opening quarter on a 78-yard gallop to the end zone from Cruz Hernandez and an 11-yard TD connection from quarterback Avon Barney to Kolby Butler. The Rams led 14-0 after one but Wheatland closed the gap with a touchdown of their own in the 2nd quarter so it was 14-7. Big Horn responded with a TD of their own as Barney found Butler for 20 yards and a score so the Rams led 21-7 at the halftime intermission.

Wheatland stayed in the game as they returned the kick-off to start the 2nd half for a touchdown, a play that went for 95 yards. The Bulldogs trailed 21-14 but never got closer than that. Barney tossed his 3rd TD pass of the game to Caleb Gibson which covered 80 yards and Gavin Stafford turned in a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown in the 4th quarter.

Big Horn is 4-1 and will host Newcastle on Friday night while Wheatland drops to 2-4 and will be at home this week to host Upton-Sundance. We have some all-star photos of the BH-Wheatland game to share with you compliments of Tony Montoya. You can find them in our gallery below. Enjoy!
