PhotoFest: Big Piney Punches Ticket to 9-Man Championship
The Big Piney vs. Lingle Fort Laramie football playoff game in the 1A 9-man ranks was a match-up of two very skilled teams.
Big Piney came into the contest with just one loss and really came to play after a long bus ride. Running back Reuben Stoutenberg had a rushing touchdown and two receiving touchdowns. The other Puncher running back, Caden Clifford, rang up three rushing TDs and a scoring catch. Quarterback Champ Snively threw three touchdown passes with one of them going to Karsyn Gurr. At the end of the first half, Big Piney assumed a 33-7 lead.
Lingle-Fort Laramie received a couple of touchdowns from Louden Bremer. One was an 11-yard run to the end zone and the other was a kick-off return for a touchdown that went for 80 yards. Colt Brown and Nolan Spears also scored for the Doggers, but Big Piney had too many horses in the race and won going away 51-27. Seven turnovers also hurt Lingle's chances.
The Punchers at 9-1 will meet 10-0 Wind River for the 1A 9-Man championship on Saturday at 1 p.m. at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie. Big Piney's lone loss this season came to Wind River in Pavillion and their last state title was back in 2006. LFL wrapped up an outstanding year at 9-1 and were making just their 3rd playoff appearance in the last 8 years.
