A good portion of the 4A football games this past week had a big bearing on the playoff picture and Campbell County took a big step towards a home postseason game with a 21-20 overtime win over Cheyenne Central. After a scoreless 1st quarter, Central kicked a 28-yard field goal and a 48-yard field goal from Brock Pederson so the Indians led 6-0 at halftime.

Campbell came to life in the 3rd quarter with a 1-yard run for a score from Trent Rosenau and Central answered that with a 93-yard kickoff return for a touchdown from Miles Porwoll to lead 14-7. The Camels evened the game as quarterback Mason Drube tossed a 61-yard touchdown pass to Aiden Dorr so it was 14 all.

After a scoreless 4th quarter, the game went into overtime with Campbell County scoring first as Drube connected with Adam Gibson, and with the extra point, it was 21-14. Central scored on their first possession in overtime as Porwoll caught a 7-yard TD pass from Lane Clement. Central elected to go for 2 and the win but running back Mason Counter was stopped just shy of the goal line.

Campell County will host Sheridan this week and the Camels can be the #3 seed in the 4A playoffs with a win and some help. They will be the 4th seed if Natrona beats Thunder Basin. They could also be the 5th seed depending if Thunder Basin beats Natrona and the Camels lose to Sheridan.

Cheyenne Central is 3-5 and will wrap up the regular season at Rock Springs. The winner of that game will be the  #6 seed and the loser will be the #7 seed. Be sure and check out some pics of that CC-Central game courtesy of Casey Muffley. They can be located in our gallery below.
