PhotoFest: Pine Bluffs Still Undefeated in 1A 9-Man Football
Pine Bluffs has been running on all cylinders with a 5-0 record so far this season. The Hornets cruised right by Lusk on Friday night 51-15 as quarterback Carsten Freeburg had a career game. He started his passing spree in the opening quarter with a 25-yard strike to Jesus Solis to give the Hornets a 7-0 lead.
Freeburg threw his 2nd TD pass of the game in the 2nd quarter, this time to Travis Lerwick that went for 42 yards to bump the lead to 14-0. Lusk got back into the game with a 6-yard run to the end zone from Ridge Kupke to cut the gap to 14-7. But Freeburg kicked a field and goal and threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Shawn Shmidl so Pine Bluffs led 24-7 at the half.
Lusk earned a safety in the 3rd quarter and a 52-yard pass connection for a touchdown from Brady Swisher to Raynce Brott but Freeburg was still producing points for PB. He was 6 yard run to the end zone in the 3rd quarter along with another touchdown pass to Shmidl so it was 37-15 after 3 quarters of play.
If that wasn't enough, Freeburg found Shmidl again for 15 yards and a score, and then he rushed for his 2nd TD of the game from 4 yards out. You don't see too many performances like that as Pine Bluffs wins it 51-15
The Hornets will be at home this week vs. Saratoga and the Lusk Tigers are 2-3 and we're coming off a solid win over Southeast the week before. Be sure and take a look at some awesome photos of the PB-Lusk game from Ashley Jessens. You can find them in our gallery below. Enjoy!
