The Powell Panthers were desperately seeking a win in 3A football after 2 straight losses and took some of that frustration out on Green River in a 57-17 win on Friday night in Sweetwater County. It was quite a game in the first half with the Panthers pulling away in half #2.

That first quarter was certainly entertaining with Green River starting the scoring bonanza thanks to 24-yard touchdown completion from Maddux Hintz to Evan Maser to put the Wolves in front 7-0. Powell came right back on a 2-yard run for a touchdown from Trevon Abraham to even the contest at 7. Powell took the lead later in the opening quarter as Keona Wisniewski tossed a 33-yard TD pass to McKale Foley so at this point it was 14-7. Not for long, as Green River found the end zone again on a 6-yard run from Jaydon Walther to make it 14 all.

Powell started to take command in the 2nd quarter on a touchdown run by Wisniewski and another one in the 3rd quarter. In addition to those 2 scores, Abraham found the end zone for the 2nd time as the Panthers expanded their lead to 36-14. Wisniewski threw a 14-yard touchdown pass in the 4th quarter to Alex Jordan with Abraham recording his 3rd TD of the game from 2 yards out.

Powell is 4-3 in 3A play and will host Jackson on Friday night. It's been rough sledding for Green River with a record of 1-6 overall and 4 straight losses. The Wolves will have their hands full this week, traveling to Cody. We have a few pics from the Powell-GR game in our gallery below, compliments of Dakota Riddle. Enjoy!
