Rawlins track star Eva Nitschke burst on the scene as a sophomore back in 2021 as she won the 3A state championship in the 100 hurdles and the 300 hurdles. She came right back the following year and repeated as the 3A state champ in both of the hurdle events and also anchored the Rawlins state champion 1600 medley relay team.

Nitschke is off to a flying start as she won both hurdle events at the Wheatland Invite with a time of 15.45 in the 100 and 47.29 in the 300. She also placed 3rd in the 200-meter dash in 26.42 and took 2nd at the State Meet in that event in 3A with a clocking of 26.81.

Nitschke also won a state championship on the indoor track circuit in 2023, taking the gold in the 55-meter hurdles and 2nd in the 400-meter run. She plans on continuing her track career at Chadron State in Nebraska.

We caught up with her in between events in Wheatland back on Thursday and happy to compete outdoors for the first time this season. We also have a few more photos to share from the Wheatland meet, courtesy of Mark DeLap as well as Adria Trembly. Enjoy!
