Riverside’s Trenton Coronel Joins the Yellowjackets Track Program
Riverside High School graduate Trenton Coronel has signed at MSU Billings to compete in track and field.
Coronel was a three-sport student-athlete for the Rebels.
He qualified for the state track meet in all three years of his prep career. He did not get a chance to compete in 2020, as the track and field season was canceled due to the coronavirus.
Coronel helped the Rebels take second place in the Class 1A boys’ 4x100 meter relay. He took third in the 1A long jump with a leap of 19-9.25. Coronel was fourth in the triple jump (40-8.75) and tied for fifth in the high jump (5-8). He won the long jump title at the 1A West Regional track meet in Shoshoni and was in the top four in both the triple jump and high jump.
As a junior, Coronel competed in the 800 meters, high jump, long jump, and triple jump at the 2022 Class 2A state championships. He placed second in the long jump at the 2A West Regional track meet that season.
In 2021, as a sophomore, Coronel competed on the 4x400 and 4x800 meter relay teams and in the high jump and long jump. The Rebels won the 4x800 meter relay at the Class 2A West Regional track and field championships.
Coronel also played football and basketball at RHS. He was a four-year letterman in both sports. Coronel was a three-year starter for the Rebels football team, which included the last two seasons at quarterback.
MSU Billings (Montana State University at Billings) is at the NCAA Division II level. The Yellowjackets compete in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
