In the 3a ranks, Star Valley played host to Riverton on Friday in misty Afton. The Braves of Star Valley started the season with 3 out of state opponents and beat them all. Riverton came into Friday's contest at 1-2 and the Wolverines were in for a tough 1st quarter. Star Valley put 22 points on the board as Brant Nelson threw 3 touchdown passes, the first one going to Chase Merrill that covered 14 yards, the 2nd one went to Hazen Erickson that went for 23 yards and James Erickson caught the 3rd that went for 9

Star Valley put 20 more points on the scoreboard in the 2nd quarter and they did this on the ground. R.J. Cazier going into the end zone from 8 yards, followed by a 5 yard run from Branden McDonald, followed by a 1-yard plunge from Parker Merritt. Each team found the end zone in the 3rd quarter as Spencer Larsen got in from the 9 for Star Valley and Riverton’s Lucas Engle caught a 51 yard Td pass from Damon Devries.

And that’s the way it stayed as Star Valley is 4-0 on the year following a 49-7 win over Riverton. The Braves will travel to Green River this week. Riverton’s next game will be a home contest against Worland.
