Douglas High School senior Rylan Wehr recently signed at Chadron State College in Nebraska, where he will continue his education and football career.

Wehr was a two-time all-state player for the Bearcats at the wide receiver position. He was the Class 3A East Conference Special Teams Player of the Year for the last two seasons, in 2020 and 2021. Wehr was selected Wyoming Super 25 after his junior season in 2020.

The senior helped Douglas to an overall record of 8-2 last fall and a semifinal appearance in the Class 3A playoffs.

During the 2021 season, Wehr had 25 receptions for 320 yards and four touchdowns. He also returned 14 punts for 306 yards and took three back for TDs. His longest punt return was 92 yards and a score versus Riverton. Wehr had four kickoff returns for 146 yards and one touchdown, which was against Belle Fourche, SD.

His best game last fall was against Belle Fourche, as Wehr returned a punt and a kickoff for a TD, plus had three catches for 99 yards and two scores. He finished that game with 238 all-purpose yards and four total touchdowns.

He also finished with 67 defensive points in the 2021 season. That included 26 total tackles, one tackle for loss, a fumble recovery, and two interceptions. He added five pass breakups, as well.

Wehr has been selected to play in the 2022 Wyoming Shrine Bowl All-Star football game in Casper this summer.

Rylan also wrestles and participates in track and field at Douglas High School. He has finished in the top five at the Class 3A state wrestling tournament his first three years of high school. Last month, Wehr placed third in the 145-pound weight class, at the prestigious Ron Thon Memorial Wrestling Tournament in Riverton. In track, Wehr is a sprinter for the Bearcats.

He is an honor roll student and maintains a 4.0 GPA.

Chadron State is a Division II program and part of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
