A soccer player, four football players, and two baseball players from Laramie High School signed their National Letter of Intent on Wednesday at LHS.

Seniors Lexi Lucero, Abe Bangoura, Adrien Calderon, Mahlon Morris, Jeremy Sanchez, Tayton Moore, and Griffin Webb will be taking their talents to the next level.

Lucero was the lone female to sign, and she did so on National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Lucero signed at Yakima Valley College in Yakima, WA. She is a two-time all-conference selection in the 4A East Conference. Lucero had seven goals and six assists in the 2022 season. She helped Laramie to an appearance at the 4A state tournament.

LHS starts its’ 2023 soccer season next month.

Bangoura signed as a Preferred Walk-On with the University of Wyoming Cowboys football team. He was an all-state and all-conference offensive lineman for the Plainsmen last fall. Bangoura started at left tackle and defensive end. He helped LHS average 220.1 yards and 12.1 points per game. Laramie qualified for the 4A playoffs. On defense, Bangoura had 21.5 tackles, which included 2.5 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, four fumble recoveries, and a pair of pass breakups.

Calderon was an all-state and all-conference receiver for the Plainsmen. He signed with Dickinson State University in North Dakota. Calderon caught 53 passes for 723 yards and 7 touchdowns. He also led Laramie on defense with 96 defensive points. Calderon made 41 tackles, had one tackle for loss, three interceptions, and seven pass breakups.

After playing just one season of high school football, Morris committed to the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND. Morris was limited to part of five games because of injury. He ran the ball 11 times for 51 yards and added seven receptions for 51 yards. On defense at linebacker, Morris made 24 tackles, which included 16 solo stops, one tackle for loss, an interception, and two pass breakups.

Sanchez was a two-way starter for LHS last fall. He led Laramie in rushing with 200 yards on 39 carries and averaged 5.1 yards per rush. On defense, at the safety position, Sanchez had 29 tackles, two tackles for loss, and one pass breakup. He signed for football at Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell, SD.

On the baseball diamond, a pair of Laramie Rangers will take their talents to the collegiate level.

Tayton Moore signed with Hesston College in Hesston, KS. As a junior with the American Legion Rangers, he helped LHS to a 35-23 record in the 2022 season. Moore hit .255 last summer with 37 hits and 33 RBIs. Moore had ten doubles, scored 34 runs, and stole eight bases. On the mound, he went 5-1 with a 5.59 ERA. Moore threw 36.1 innings last season, which was the fifth-most on the squad. He allowed 37 runs, 29 earned runs, on 40 hits with 27 walks and 30 strikeouts.

Griffin Webb has committed to Hastings College in Nebraska. As a junior last summer, Webb hit. 289 with 11 hits and seven RBIs. Webb also stole three bases. He appeared in four games as a pitcher and was 0-0 with a 7.88 ERA. Webb tossed only 2.2 innings.

The Rangers begin their 2023 season in April.
